Check out the links to the 2 separate auctions above. Both albums look to be very similar in condition and both sellers have excellent feedback yet the 2nd auction sold for well over 5 times the amount of the first. Even taking into consideration auction 1 being slightly less desirable (slight surface noise, small markings on label) this seems to be disproportionately lower than what auction 2 sold for. So what gives? I’d say it’s all about presentation (with a little dumb luck thrown in). Auction 2 did have a much nicer web presentation and even included an audio sample of the vinyl being sold. People/buyers are suckers for a artificial illusions (whether it be the Auto lot with the nice showroom or the trendy restaurant with the white table cloths) that will justify for them paying inflated prices. That coupled with the dumb luck of coincidentally having a few bidders online at the same time who are interested in what you are selling and you have a winning recipe.
When the Skatalites disbanded in August of 1965, Roland Alphonso formed the Soul Brothers with fellow Skatalite members, Johnny “Dizzy” Moore and Jackie Mittoo. During the next few years the Soul Brothers line up changed leaving only Jackie Mittoo as the lone ex-Skatalite member. Later on these 3 ex-Skatalites would reform again under the name “Soul Vendors”. (Wikipedia LINK). Tracks:
